Free 15-minute consultation
Briefly connect with me to share what brings you into counselling. This will give you an opportunity to tell me about your hopes and goals from therapy and ask any questions you may have. In this call, I share about my treatment approaches and talk about the work that I do to support people in their mental health therapy. I can make recommendations for the type of therapy that will best help you meet your outcomes. I also go over informed consent and confidentiality in counselling therapy. This call would also be a chance for us to also chat about any logistical items you might be curious about such as scheduling and availability, frequency of sessions, payment etc.
Couple’s counselling sessions
$255 (60 minutes) / $375 (90 minutes)
Couple’s sessions can help you address a number of relationship issues. Most often, couples come into sessions hoping to work on communication difficulties or ruptures in the relationship. However, communication struggles are a symptom of deeper core issues below the surface. The way couples communicate follows patterns. In our sessions, we work to identify existing communication patterns, gain insight into how these patterns were formed, and learn what you can do change or create new patterns. Creating meaningful change in your relationship begins with taking personal responsibility and in our sessions, you can expect to do a u-turn to understand your own reactions and where they come from. A relationship is like a plant or a house, and each partner does things to both nourish and damage the relationship. While it is important to express our wishes for the change we want to see in our partners, we must also shift our focus and come ready to look inside and do the work on ourselves. My approach for couples is informed by the Gottman method .
Individual counselling sessions
$225 (60 minutes)
Individual sessions help you meet a wide a variety of outcomes from navigating short-term crises to managing the long term effects of complex trauma. While focusing on strategies and solutions can be helpful to alleviate emotional distress, you will be encouraged to do the work to get to the root or the core of your issues. Our emotions, thoughts, and behaviours follow patterns, and these patterns helped us at some point in your life. When these patterns no longer serve you the way they once did, our sessions can help you understand the origins of patterns and figure out what letting go and creating new patterns can start to look like. These sessions typically include a combination of talk therapy and experiential therapy (such as EMDR and IFS). Since therapy is a collaborative process and informed consent is ongoing, I will work with you to ensure that what we do in sessions feels right for you at a given time.
Children / Adolescents counselling sessions
$115 (30 minutes) / $225 (60 minutes)
Child and adolescent sessions are a great opportunity for your child to develop their social-emotional skill set. Children can experience big feelings and big thoughts from stressful events at home or at school. These feelings and thoughts are then expressed in different behaviours as a way for the child to process and make sense of the world around them. In our sessions, your child will learn about their inner world of thoughts and feelings through play and art. Learning about their inner world will include naming emotions, identifying where they feel things in their body, and developing tools to self-regulate and understand themselves. I also work closely with parents to help you support your child at home. Important points of discussion include your child's daily routine, exposure to technology and screen-time, quality time with caregivers, bedtime routine, and boundaries. Individual sessions for parents may be recommended based on the family' s needs.
